All students participating in an Education Abroad program must complete WVU’s required pre-departure orientation before traveling.
The orientation is completed asynchronously through your WVU Abroad application. The requirement includes:
- Watching the recorded pre-departure orientation
- Reviewing the accompanying presentation slides
- Completing a 10-question assessment with a score of 70% or higher
Students may attempt the assessment up to three times. The questions are randomized and may vary between attempts. Students who do not earn a passing score after three attempts must contact educationabroad@wvu.edu for further instruction.
The orientation covers important information about travel health and safety, emergency procedures, insurance, cultural adjustment and other topics that will help you prepare for your experience abroad. Students may contact educationabroad@wvu.edu at any time with questions about the orientation or their upcoming travel.
Faculty-Led Programs
Students participating in faculty-led programs must also attend any program-specific pre-departure sessions required by their faculty leader or program leadership team. These meetings provide destination- and program-specific information and are required in addition to the online Education Abroad orientation.
