Mission Statement
Education Abroad aims to serve all West Virginia University colleges and departments
to increase student mobility abroad that enhances the academic experience of students
across majors. Education Abroad encompasses all activities related to:
- WVU Exchange Programs
- WVU Courses Abroad/Faculty-led Programs
- International Internships
- International Undergraduate Research
- WVU Campus and Community Outreach
Education Abroad seeks to develop, promote, and support these programs to advance
student success and enhance the educational experience. These opportunities allow
students to develop global competencies including the ability to work effectively
in international settings; gain an awareness of and adaptability to diverse cultures,
perceptions and approaches; a familiarity with the major currents of global change
and the issues they raise; the capacity for effective communication across cultural
and linguistic boundaries; and the ability to comprehend the international dimension
of one’s field of study.
