Scholarships

 

WVU offers many scholarships for education abroad, from the Office of Global Affairs to the various colleges and schools. WVU also works closely with students on competitive, national scholarships for study abroad. Students may receive multiple scholarships across departments to fund their study abroad experience.

Global Affairs Scholarship Program

The Global Affairs Scholarship Program manages all awards administered through the WVU Office of Global Affairs. Awards are available for students participating in the WVU Exchange Program along with specific faculty-led programs such as the Semester in Strasbourg and the San Gemini Preservation Studies Program. Students may receive one of each scholarship type during their undergraduate career.

Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship

The Gilman scholarship is designed to provide study abroad experiences for persons with limited financial means. All students who receive a Federal Pell Grant and are studying in one country for at least four consecutive weeks are eligible to apply. Education Abroad and ASPIRE work closely with students applying for Gilman scholarships. For assistance applying, please contact the ASPIRE office at (304) 293-6353 or aspire@mail.wvu.edu.

Students working with ASPIRE to complete a strong Gilman Application for an approved WVU program may be eligible for the Global Affairs Scholarship Program: Gilman Incentive Scholarship.

Chambers College Study Abroad Grants

The Robbins Travel Global Enrichment Program provides financial assistance to Chambers' undergraduate students that participate in international activities that complement, extend, and enhance their academic experiences.

CAHS Awards

Students in the College of Applied Human Sciences can apply for a variety of scholarships to support semester or short-term study abroad programming related to their major.

Davis College Student Enhancement Grant

The Davis College offers Student Enhancement Grants to support activities that enrich a student’s academic experience. Students may receive a grant for activities such as study abroad, conference and workshop attendance as well as research and creative scholarship activities.

Eberly Academic Enrichment Program

Available to those majoring in Eberly College of Arts & Sciences programs, the Eberly Academic Enrichment Program offers funds to eligible students that can be used towards their study abroad experience.

HSC Travel Grants

WVU Health Sciences students should work with the HSC Global Engagement Office regarding available funding resources. Study abroad scholarships are also available for School of Nursing students.

Honors College Study Abroad Scholarship

The Honors College Study Abroad Scholarship will be awarded to help Honors students fund credit-bearing study abroad programs.

Reed School of Media and Communications Student Enhancement Scholarship Application

Students in the Reed School of Media can apply for Student Enhancement Awards for major specific study abroad programming.
