Other Programs

Found a program on your own? Contact us before you commit.

While most students participate in WVU Exchange, Faculty-Led, or Affiliated Programs, some students identify study abroad opportunities independently.

If you are considering a program that is not currently offered through WVU or one of our approved partners, we encourage you to contact the Education Abroad Office before making any commitments. Our team can help determine whether the program may be eligible for academic credit, review important considerations related to health and safety, and explain the approval process.

Requesting Program Approval

Students considering a study abroad program that is not offered through a WVU Exchange, Faculty-Led, or Affiliated Program must obtain approval from the WVU Education Abroad Office before participating.

Approval requests must be submitted at least three months prior to departure to allow sufficient time for program review and processing.

Students participating in approved programs are required to register in the appropriate Education Abroad placeholder course while abroad. Credit earned through an independently identified program may be eligible for transfer to WVU; however, transfer credit is subject to review and approval by the appropriate academic department.

To begin the approval process, please submit an online request.
