WVU Affiliated Programs

Explore Opportunities Beyond the WVU Portfolio

WVU Affiliated Programs are offered through trusted study abroad organizations and partner institutions that have been reviewed and approved by WVU. These programs provide students with access to a wide variety of destinations, academic disciplines, internships, research opportunities, and program lengths.

Affiliated programs are often an excellent option for students seeking opportunities that may not be available through a WVU Exchange or Faculty-Led Program. Whether you are looking for a summer program, semester abroad, international internship, language immersion experience, or specialized academic opportunity, affiliated programs offer flexibility to match your goals.

Why Choose an Affiliated Program?

Students choose affiliated programs because they offer:

  • Hundreds of program options around the world
  • Flexible start dates and program lengths
  • Opportunities in a wide range of academic disciplines
  • International internships and career-focused experiences
  • Study, research, service-learning, and experiential learning opportunities
  • Support from experienced study abroad organizations
  • Guidance from WVU Education Abroad throughout the planning process

Affiliated programs can be a great fit for students who have a specific destination, academic interest, or career goal in mind.

International Internships

WVU students can participate in international internships through affiliated program providers.

These opportunities allow students to gain professional experience while living and learning abroad. Internship placements vary by destination and field of interest and may include areas such as business, communications, education, health, nonprofit organizations, environmental studies, and other professional sectors.

International internships help students:

  • Gain global professional experience
  • Build intercultural communication skills
  • Explore potential career paths
  • Strengthen resumes and graduate school applications
  • Develop confidence in international workplace environments

Is an Affiliated Program Right for You?

An affiliated program may be a good fit if you:

  • Want a specific destination not available through another program type
  • Are interested in an international internship
  • Want additional flexibility in program length or academic focus
  • Are seeking a summer, semester, or specialized experience abroad
  • Want access to a broader range of program options

Students from all majors are encouraged to explore affiliated opportunities.

Application Process

Students interested in an affiliated program should begin by submitting an Education Abroad Advising Request.

An Education Abroad Coordinator will help identify program options that align with your interests and academic goals. Students must receive approval from the WVU Education Abroad Office before enrolling in an affiliated program.
